Linton Kwesi Johnson OD, also known as LKJ, is a renowned dub poet and activist originally from Jamaica but now residing in Britain. In 2002, he achieved a significant milestone by becoming the second living poet, and the sole black poet, to have his work included in the prestigious Penguin Modern Classics series. June 22nd: Today’s Feature - Errol Brown, MBE; Singer, Songwriter, frontman of the band 'Hot Chocolate'
Errol Brown, the iconic singer of Hot Chocolate, rose to international fame despite facing the challenge of being abandoned by his father in Jamaica. Errol's education was made possible by the incredible sacrifice of his mother. She left her home in Jamaica and moved to Britain in 1953, determined to provide a better future for her son.

June 21st: Today's Feature - Yvonne Jones Brewster, OBE; Actress, Theatre Director & Businesswoman
In 1956, Brewster traveled to the UK to pursue her studies in drama at Rose Bruford College, where she made history as the first Black woman drama student in the country. Despite being discouraged on her first day about her prospects in the British theatrical scene, she persevered and excelled, later earning a distinction in Drama and Mime from the Royal Academy of Music.

June 20th: Today's Feature - Paul Boateng - Civil Rights Solicitor, Barrister, MP (Member of Parliament)
Paul Boateng won a seat on the Greater London Council for Walthamstow in 1981, during Ken Livingstone's leadership. He became the second individual of Afro-Caribbean heritage to serve on the GLC. In his roles as chair of the police committee and vice-chair of the ethnic minorities committee, Boateng pushed for increased transparency within the Metropolitan Police and condemned racism in their interactions with black and Asian communities.

Established in 1986, Talawa Theatre Company is a prominent Black British theatre company that has made significant contributions to the arts scene in the UK. The company is known for its commitment to reimagining classic plays, nurturing emerging writing and directing talent, and creating new works that reflect the experiences of the Black British Community, as well as the Caribbean and African diaspora in Britain.

June 18th: Today's Feature - Mona Hammond, OBE; Actress & Founder of The Talawa Theatre Company, Croydon
Mona Hammond OBE
(born Mavis Chin; 1 January 1931 – 4 July 2022) was a Jamaican-British actress and co-founder of the Talawa Theatre Company. Born in Tweedside, Jamaica, Hammond immigrated to the United Kingdom in 1959, where she lived for the rest of her life. Hammond had a long and distinguished stage career. She was best known for her work on British television and played Blossom Jackson in the BBC soap opera EastEnders.

June 17th: Today's Feature - Arthur Stanley Wint, OD, MBE; Royal Air Force (RAF) Pilot during the Second World War, Sprinter, Physician, and later High Commissioner to the U.K.
Arthur Stanley Wint, OD, MBE (25 May 1920 – 19 October 1992) was a Jamaican Royal Air Force (RAF) pilot during the Second World War, Sprinter, Physician, and later High Commissioner to the United Kingdom. Competing at the 1948 and 1952 Olympics, whilst a medical student at St Bartholomew's Hospital, London, he won two gold and two silver medals, becoming the first Jamaican Olympic gold medalist.

June 16th: Today's Feature - Ozwald Boateng, OBE, Fashion Designer (Classic Tailoring & Bespoke)
Boateng expanded his brand in 2003 by launching a new line of perfumes for women called Bespoke, featuring two different vials of fragrance in an elegant bottle. He was honoured with a 20-year retrospective event at the Victoria and Albert Museum in 2005, and in 2008, he opened his flagship store and headquarters at No. 30 Savile Row, co-designed by British-Ghanaian Architect David Adjaye. The store, the largest on Savile Row, remains the only Black-owned store on the street
