May Tanner, (b. 16/7/1932 - January 2026), made history as the first black nurse at the Bristol Royal Infirmary. Originally from Barbados, she relocated to the UK in response to the call for assistance in rebuilding the country. In 1959, she obtained her nursing qualification, marking the beginning of her remarkable career. In 1965, May Tanner joined the Bristol Royal Infirmary, where she dedicated herself to providing exceptional care to patients.

During the 1970s, Olive delved into the realm of politics by advocating for individuals who had fallen prey to pyramid schemes. Described as a 'quiet activist', she dedicated her efforts towards supporting the vulnerable groups in society, particularly focusing on children and the elderly. Known affectionately as "Dolly", D'Oliveira had a successful career playing county cricket for Worcestershire from 1964 to 1980.

Derek Anthony Redmond, (born 4 September 1965), a retired British sprinter, had an illustrious career in athletics. He not only held the British record for the 400 metres sprint but also achieved remarkable success in the 4x400 metres relay at both the World Championships and European Championships, earning gold medals for his country. Personal Life Redmond, a native of Bletchley in Buckinghamshire, was born to parents who had immigrated from the West Indies.

Fahma Mohamed, a remarkable teenager, has been recognised for her exceptional efforts in leading a campaign against female genital mutilation (FGM). At the age of 19, she achieved a significant milestone by being awarded a doctorate in law, making her one of the youngest individuals in the UK to receive such an honorary degree.
