May 24th: Today's Feature - Amanda Ira Aldridge; Concert singer, Piano accompanist, and Voice teacher
Born on 10 March 1866 in Upper Norwood, London, Amanda Aldridge was the third child of the famous African-American actor Ira Frederick Aldridge and his second wife, Amanda Brandt, who hailed from Sweden. Growing up, she had two sisters, Rachael and Luranah, and two brothers, Ira Daniel and Ira Frederick, in her family.

May 23rd: Today’s Feature - William Morris, Baron Morris of Handsworth, OJ, DL; British Trade Union Leader
William Manuel Morris, Baron Morris of Handsworth, OJ, DL, born on 19 October 1938, is a distinguished former British trade union leader who made history as the first black leader of a major British trade union. Serving as the General Secretary of the Transport and General Workers' Union from 1992 to 2003, Morris played a pivotal role in advocating for the rights and welfare of workers across the nation.

May 22nd: Today’s Feature - Rosalind Patricia-Anne Howells, Baroness Howells of St Davids, OBE, COG; British Labour Politician
Throughout her career, Howells held various significant positions such as Director of the Greenwich Racial Equality Council and Community and Equal Opportunities Worker. Additionally, she is a trustee of the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust and has been an invaluable advisor to the Lawrence family.
Notably, Howells made history as the first black woman to serve on the GLC's Training Board and the first female member of the Court of Governors at the University of Greenwich.

May 21st: Today’s Feature - Ira Frederick Aldridge; Stage Actor, Playwright
Aldridge emigrated to Liverpool in 1824 with actor James Wallack after the pair became tired of the constant discrimination they faced in America. As their arrival coincided with the beginning of the Industrial Revolution, Britain had the means to erect theatres and the fact that the slave trade had already been outlawed, made the prospect of Black actors performing in Britain somewhat acceptable, albeit with some prejudice.

Gladstone Cleophas Small's unwavering dedication to cricket and its future in Birmingham and beyond remains as strong today as it did when he first set foot in Edgbaston as an enthusiastic teenager in the late 1970s. After moving to the West Midlands from the Caribbean at the tender age of 14, he joined his father, who had relocated to England's automotive heartlands for employment opportunities.

Doreen Delceita Lawrence, also known as Baroness Lawrence of Clarendon, OBE, was born in 1952 and is a prominent British Jamaican activist. She gained recognition for her advocacy work following the tragic murder of her son, Stephen Lawrence, a black British teenager who fell victim to a racist attack in South East London in 1993. Grant's legacy as a British Labour Party politician who championed social justice and equality continues to be remembered and celebrated by many to this day.

May 17th: Today’s Feature - Kesewa Arbell Lavinia Aboah; Model, Artist
Kesewa Aboah has worked under contract with VIVA Model Management and DNA Models. Her modelling career began at the young age of six when she landed her first job with Jigsaw. Since then, she has appeared in advertising campaigns for top fashion brands such as Alexander McQueen and Miu Miu. Notably, in 2010, Aboah and her sister were chosen to star in an advertisement campaign for H&M, marking a significant milestone in her career.
